💊 Women’s Health Supplements in SEA

Women's health supplements in Southeast Asia started as either TCM prescriptions or a beauty-based focus on vitamins supporting collagen, beauty-from-within and general wellness. Now, this category is rapidly evolving into a far more sophisticated women’s health ecosystem spanning: hormonal health, fertility support, gut health, sleep & stress, menopause and menstrual health.

Large supplements manufacturers in Asia are creating and marketing women's health-specific supplements, such as LAC, Kinohimitsu, Swisse and VitaHealth. However, femtech startup brands are now shaping the women's health supplements space in SEA with stronger localisation and personal brand relationships with consumers:

Supplement lines are often categorised under “wellness” rather than “health”, highlighting how regulatory frameworks shape brand strategy across the region. Yet despite the opportunity, building a women’s supplements company in Asia remains incredibly complex.

Singapore remains the region's most commercially accessible supplement market due to its minimal pre-market approval, strong consumer trust, advanced direct-to-consumer ecosystem, fast launch, regional credibility, sophisticated consumers. For example, Ease is able to deliver supplements and prescriptions to arrive on the doorstep within 1-3 business days, or the consumer can access 4-hour express delivery for prescribed UTI treatments.

Singapore's Health Sciences Authority generally does not require supplements to undergo formal pre-market approval before launch as long as companies comply with safety, labelling and ingredient regulations. However, regardless of the consumer convenience (which 64% of women in SEA say is a determining factor when using femtech products*), regulatory care in all markets must be adhered to strictly for credibility and trust. With 33% of women saying "brand reputation" is a key factor for purchase*, supplements brands must operate with strict adherence to country regulation to avoid even unintentional missteps.

Indonesia and Vietnam are the most complex markets in SEA for women's health supplements market entry. Indonesia requires supplement registration through BPOM and Vietnam requires product declaration and registration with the Vietnam Food Administration. Similiar to Singapore, but with even more steps for market entry approval, the processes often involve ingredient reviews, formula documentation, manufacturing certifications, product testing, etc. With higher documentation burden, local representation often needed, slower approval pathways, and strong expectations for localisation (e.g. labels, ingredients, distribution partners, etc.), ease and timing to market can be a bigger challenge, though at the same time, can support consumer trust of extensively vetted and tested products.

We are seeing increasing market entry and investor attention in Singapore's women's health supplements. Moom is leading in regional company funding in Southeast Asia. In 2022, the company raised $1.2M SGD in seed funding from DSG Consumer Partners, Love, Bonito, and Nuguru. Then in April 2025, Moom announced a $3.5M SGD pre-Series A round led by Wipro Consumer Care Ventures alongside DSG Consumer Partners, Racer Ventures (Eu Yan Sang family office) and HPRY Holdings. Rapid company growth and expansion are underway with plans to invest further in:

✔️ product innovation

✔️ supply chain

✔️ team expansion

✔️ new markets

✔️ retail & digital footprint growth

Moom has also publicly shared it is conducting clinical trials for its sleep and anti-bloating formulations to highlight the importance of scientific validation in Asia’s wellness market.

As for product marketing, Moom Health has taken a community-driven approach by combining education, physical retail experiences and wellness storytelling. Through initiatives like “Moom University,” the brand positions itself as an accessible wellness educator. Moom has also expanded beyond digital commerce into experiential retail with its pop-up retail spaces in Singapore, creating immersive environments where consumers can discover products, engage with wellness content, and experience the brand in a more personal and lifestyle-oriented way.

For Ovy Health as a digital health provider, supplements offer an opportunity to connect with consumers with a tangible product supporting their healthcare journeys. Ovy Health hosts ad hoc immersive health and wellness events, such as their popular IVFair series in Singapore and Indonesia, or their specialised fertility retreats designed to jumpstart the IVF process. The supplements extend customer engagement before and after these events.

At the same time, global momentum around women’s health R&D is accelerating, with more opportunities for women's health supplements brands to partner or fundraise for business growth - e.g.

• Nestlé continues investing in women’s nutrition and healthy longevity initiatives.

• The Gates Foundation has committed US$2.5B through 2030 toward women’s health innovation.

• VentureWell and AthenaDAO are supporting new translational women’s health research models globally.

Southeast Asiais is moving towards more personalised, science-backed and culturally localised women's health solutions. The next phase of supplements category growth in Southeast Asia will be defined by brands that successfully prioritise clinical credibility, digital health integration and community engagement.
